Annual Sierra Vision Awards

What are the Sierra Vision Awards?

Historically known by many as the Vision 2020 awards, we've renamed this prestigious regional award for leaders and innovators in region. Some of the greatest things happen under conditions of adversity and at Sierra Business Council we’re committed to solutions that create opportunity from those exact circumstances. Each year, we host an event to recognize and encourage leadership in the Sierra, honoring community members as their work continues to demonstrate community vitality, environmental quality, economic prosperity, and social fairness.

If you'd like to attend this year's Vision Awards celebration on May 1st, please RSVP by clicking HERE

2011 Vision Award winners:

Amador-Calaveras Consensus Group

The Amador-Calaveras Consensus Group is a community-based organization that works to create fire-safe communities, healthy forests, watersheds, and sustainable local economies.  Its efforts have helped to create jobs and give hope to poverty stricken areas.  The group is highly regarded for the services it provides to the local community.

Ian Rogoff

Ian Rogoff has been a leading figure in establishing entry level and managerial jobs in clean, renewable energy to the Sierra Nevada region.  During his many years with local investment and business organizations such as the Sierra Nevada Partners, Sierra Angles and the Nevada Institute of Renewable Energy and Commercialization (NIREC), Ian’s leadership has become synonymous with visionary values.  He is active in educational and research pursuits, product and market innovation, public policy, collaboration, economic development and job creation in both the public and private sectors in the region.

Jenine Windeshausen

Jenine Windeshausen's visionary leadership in the region’s first Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program (mPOWER Placer) and her unique application to the program design has elevated the this innovative program design to national attention.  mPOWER Placer works to create local jobs, invest in clean energy and energy efficiency at the county level, and ultimately saves customers money on electricity and gas bills.  Believing in local investment as the first step towards economic recovery and community prosperity, Jenine has created a national model which bridges the intersection of economy, environment and the community while providing valuable services to the region.

John Mount

John Mount has demonstrated tireless dedication in mentoring youth and educating the public about the benefits of forest management. Among Mr. Mount’s many actions in support of California forestry was the commitment of himself and his entire forestry staff to the very first offering of the Northern California Society of American Forester’s (SAF) sponsored “Forest Conservation Days.” He subsequently went on to create “Forest Science Days” and “Local Forest Conservation Days” at his employer’s ‘Camp Edison’ to educate elementary school children about forest stewardship.  His work represents a lifetime of dedication and cutting edge forestry practices.

John Olmsted

John Olmsted is the recipient of the “Life Time Achievement Award”.  This achievement is not awarded annually and is reserved for only truly exceptional individuals who have made insurmountable contributions.  Inspired by John Muir, Olmsted devoted his entire life and all of his resources to conservation, education, watershed awareness, and creating a Trans California Hiking trail.  Often living in poverty, he spared no personal expense in pursuing his goals.  Sadly, John passed away in March of 2011, but his lifetime of service will leave a lasting impression on the Sierras for generations to come.  His work continues to be carried out by his son Alden.
