Get an overview of the Draft Environmental Impact Report at the Truckee Town Council meeting on December 18th and tell the Council what you would like them to consider in their review. Plus, be sure to submit your own comments in writing to the Town by January 5th so they will be considered in the Final EIR. For further information on how to effectively comment on an EIR, check this blog in a few days.
The Staff Report for the Town Council meeting provided a brief outline of the contents of the 500-plus pages in the EIR document, draft Minutes from the EIR review by the HIstoric Preservation Advisory Committee and notes from the Traffic Workshop. Contact planner Denyelle Nishimore to obtain a copy. The EIR with its mitigation measures is “the bite of the apple” for the public. You can express your ideas and copy your comments on this blog to share with others. Again, you must submit your EIR comments in writing directly to the Town. Comments can be submitted in person, by mail or by email to the Denyelle Nishimori, the Town’s planner for the Truckee Railyail.

This is fabulous and shows how much the people of the town care about what happens with the railyard project.
I wish I’d been there and I can’t wait to read what other people think about the project.
Hope the development turns out beautifully so I can move there and walk to Cabona’s and the Wagon Train. It is a great idea for preservation of the history of Truckee into the present time.
I have personally have watched the Town of Truckee Panning Department and the Planning Commission time and time again trash the Development Codes. Decisions that are being made by this groug should be made by the coucil. I believe that the town is giving away the store at the expense of the taxpayers. I can no longer support the rubber stamping of projects. I can no longer watch the soul of Truckee being sold to the higest bidder. Truckee is no longer about community; it is all about the all mighty tax dollar. The railyard is going to make an old town and a new town with no connection. Truckee is going to be like Flagstaff, Az.. You can not find the Mother Road (Route 66) in that town if you tried.
I will no longer go to any town mettings nor will I make any comments. They do not want to hear. This makes me want to cry.
It is my humble opinion, that the entire Master Plan and the EIR belong in the trash can.
Frankly, I can not wait to sell my home to get the hell out of here. When I get on that bus to leave town I will be smiling.
You “the people” of Truckee have seen nothing yet. This town is already in a traffic failure mode.
