Welcome to Sierra Business Council’s Forest-Carbon Blog, an interactive interface developed to open the door to effective discussion and communication about the hot topics surrounding current and upcoming policy considerations regarding the market of forest carbon offsets on the carbon market. As the Sierra Nevada region’s sustainability organization, SBC is currently working on assessing how placing a price on ecosystem services through market mechanisms may bring new sources of revenue to the region while simultaneously supporting land conservation and encouraging natural management and reforestation of our native forests, resulting in a more connected landscape of resilient forest lands, better prepared to adapt to the effects of climate change.

Stay tuned for periodic posts, dialogue and discussion raising awareness about this controversial topic.
