Quincy Library Group

The Quincy Library Group, named for the “only politically-neutral public place” at which forest stakeholders originally met, drafted a plan to strategically thin the forests so as to reduce fire danger and improve forest health, restore ecosystem balance, protect endangered species, and generate electricity for their community.

Implementing their plan required public/private partnerships, and an Act of Congress co-sponsored by Senator Dianne Feinstein. The HFQLG Act also includes the forest itself and its inhabitants as stakeholders in planning prior to thinning, and considerations while doing the work.
