Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP)Benefiting Water Quality & Quantity in Eastern California
Proposals Currently Being AcceptedThe State Water Resources Control Board may allow a discharger to fund a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) as a part of an imposed administrative civil liability. SEP funding often goes to local groups who want to conduct such activities as monitoring programs, habitat restoration and conservation easements. Sierra Business Council is working with the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board to conduct outreach and workshops to educate interested parties about SEP funding and create a database of potential and current SEP projects in the Lahontan Region. The Lahontan Region extends from the Oregon border to the northern Mojave Desert and includes all of California east of the Sierra Nevada crest. If you have a project that you want to conduct that directly benefits or studies groundwater or surface water quality or quantity, then your project may qualify for SEP funding. Sierra Business Council conducted informational meetings throughout the Lahontan region in 2008 and 2009. You can download the meeting handout (Microsoft Word) and SWRCB Draft Supplemental Environmental Project Policy (pdf) from the meetings here. SEP Proposal Submission:To submit a proposal for a potential SEP, download the SEP Proposal Excel File.
