Northern Sierra Local FirstWide reaching valleys woven with iconic pastoral Lands, miles of dense green forests, unique towns and friendly faces set the scene for the Northern Sierra Think Local First program. In this special place that so many of us call home we work together with local businesses, farmers, ranchers, art councils, energy groups, and forestry professionals to sustain and enrich this unique area. Over the past year we have participated in events with our Local First Prize Wheel, delighting and educating curious passers by. People who walk up to spin the wheel gain new insights on the place that they live and the potential they have to contribute to the well being of the town. With the 2008 Local Food Challenge and the Homegrown Festival at the Thompson Valley Ranch we have helped to enliven the community in local eating. Now as you walk through town keep your eyes open for the Think Local First Logo in storefront windows. Upon seeing this you will come to know businesses that are local and independent bringing countless benefits to the community, economy and environment.
