Background on BERC

Serving a national client base, BERC works with colleges and universities, community housing projects, hospitals, businesses, utilities, government agencies, and schools. Offering a full spectrum of technical services, we assist clients considering biomass systems in determining economic and site feasibility, design, vendors, funding sources, and project implementation and management. BERC also conducts regional biomass supply assessments and demonstration testing of emerging technologies such as gasification.

BERC has formulated specific programs to facilitate the process of considering biomass energy projects for clean energy fund managers, state energy planners, and schools across the country.

Our services and programs aim to promote the use of biomass as a more affordable, cleaner, locally available, renewable energy alternative to fossil fuels, thereby increasing energy security while reducing the contribution to global climate change. BERC’S primary focus is on the use of woody biomass and pelletizable “solid” fuels.

BERC is in a unique position to provide objective, reliable information aiding clients to make wise choices in terms of biomass energy systems because BERC does not sell products or perform installations.
