Non-timber Forest Products

Non-timber Forest Products include food, fiber, and medicines both wild-harvested and cultivated.

Whereas some past wild harvest, agricultural and rangeland practices have worked against the forest by holding it back, new practices work with the forest, enhancing agricultural and rangeland production and forest health. This symbiotic relationship improves soil and watershed health, nutrient cycling, and pollination services for both agricultural production and wildlife habitats, and controls invasive species, pests and pathogens.
