Sierra Nevada Resource Investment Needs Assessment; A Report by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy Working Group (July 2002): The Sierra Nevada is a resource of regional, statewide, national and even global significance. However, as documented in various studies this magnificent mountain region’s unique resource values are undergoing rapid change. Scientists and researchers from many disciplines have evaluated the condition of the Sierra’s social, economic and natural resources and identified needs and problem areas for further attention by land managers and other decision-makers.
