Membership Coordinator - Northern

Summary of Position
The Membership Coordinator is responsible for implementing the Sierra Business Council’s membership and programmatic outreach projects for the north and north central regions of the Sierra Nevada encompassing the counties of Yuba, Butte, Sierra, Plumas, Lassen , Shasta and Modoc. The Coordinator ensures that membership and program outreach goals are met. For the membership function this includes networking, recruitment of new members, cultivation, follow-up and identification of major donors. For the programmatic outreach function this means representing SBC’s programs in the communities and working with Program Directors to achieve program objectives. The Coordinator works with and reports to the membership Program Director to ensure that SBC is proactively building our membership base, regularly and effectively communicating to our supporters, and managing special appeals.


Duties
  1. Implement membership objectives to reach SBC strategic plan targets for numbers of members and volume of contributions to the organization’s budget.
  2. Ensure that the organization's mission and program priorities are the driving force behind regional membership communications and marketing efforts.
  3. Prepare and oversee prospect lists, produce regular prospect reports and update databases.
  4. Manage the regional portion of SBC’s Database system to enter necessary information, generate reports, and manage mailings.
  5. Review, update and edit information on membership for our web site, assist with other communication projects as needed.
  6. Identify pools of potential members and major donors.
  7. Develop and maintain cultivation program and incentive and acknowledgement system to retain members, focus on major individual donors, and upgrade contributions.
  8. Manage annual and regional programmatic appeals.
  9. Meet with major donors and arrange major donor meetings with the President and other appropriate staff to ensure their renewals or increased contributions to SBC.
  10. Coordinate activities with Program Directors to meet outreach objectives for individual projects.


Personal Attributes

Must be a dedicated, sales-persuasive advocate for SBC and its mission, possessed of strong written and verbal communication skills, and maintain strong attention to detail in every aspect of the Coordinatorsresponsibilities. Must be a team player and capable of sublimating self-interest and assisting other staff members in the pursuit of organization objectives. Must be able to maintain the personal drive, energy, motivation, and self-direction necessary to accomplish the tasks appointed and capable of representing results of work to home base staff. Must be an advocate of socially responsible societal values and their pursuit and maintenance of a continuing awareness of sustainability issues within the Sierra Region.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Specialization in one of the subjects related to program work in sustainability, natural resources, social sciences or business management desirable.
  • Work experience directly related to sustainability or membership development in lieu of specialization.
  • Must have good working knowledge of IT systems and ability to manage simple database functions.


Special Duties
Regional travel is a necessity for this position. Work from home office. To maintain and increase SBC’s membership in the North and North Central Sierra – work to insure widespread recognition of our name – initiate and facilitate appropriate SBC programs and local projects that fulfill our mission.
