FSC Certified
FSC certified forests are those that are managed and third-party certified as following the principles and meeting the criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Independent scientific organizations such as Scientific Certification Systems in Oakland, CA, perform field audits to evaluate forest management for sustainable harvest, ecosystem health and community benefits. Additionally, FSC-certified forests in the Sierra meet FSC Pacific Coast Regional Standards established by a regional inter-disciplinary committee.
