Community & Economy

img/compendium-town.jpgCommunity & Economy in forests has traditionally been resource-based. We highlight here new models of community and economic development that are less resource-extractive, but still resource-based; in fact, many create both value-added products and local services that enhance livelihoods and quality of life in these rural communities and small towns.

Case Studies

Case studies highlight the arts, economic development, experiential education, job training, forest products marketing and regional marketing programs, innovative public-private partnerships, stewardship contracts, and tourism and recreation.

Categorized here by a primary function, each business or project may also address other economic, environmental, and community goals in forest communities. As such, you may find them cross-listed in other categories.
