Chief Financial Officer

The Sierra Business Council is a regional non-profit organization with a mission to pioneer innovative approaches and solutions that foster community vitality, environmental quality, economic prosperity and social fairness in the Sierra Nevada.

We don’t think numbers are boring. We aren’t afraid of numbers. We think numbers can help change the world.

Our society can be entrenched in a culture of division, where challenges are approached as conflicts, and differing interests are interpreted as competing. We see challenges as opportunities; we develop shared values rather than competing interests; we create innovative win-win solutions rather than settling for the constraints of compromise. We believe that from the most challenging circumstances emerge the greatest possibilities. We lead a solution-oriented approach, fusing seemingly contradictory worldviews into new solutions to complex problems.

The principles of sustainability referring to the interdependence of social, economic, and natural systems are widely discussed in our society. The Sierra Business Council is one of the few regional organizations in the world that puts these ideas into concrete action. By implementing and supporting model projects, we seek to demonstrate that vibrant community, fair and prosperous economies, and healthy thriving ecosystems are not competing interests, they are an intricate weave. When all three are allowed to thrive, everyone wins. In demonstrating the interdependence of community, nature, and economy we don’t simply create tools to target specific problems. Rather, our innovative solutions simultaneously respect and address a suite of challenges, and go beyond compromise or resolution to efficiently create models of real progress.

The Sierra Business Council is seeking an innovative and disciplined business mind to help us redefine how we manage our finances. SBC already embrace state of the art best management practices for non-profits. But we want to go from Good To Great. We want someone to help us excel.

We are seeking an experienced coach to take us to the next level, improve our level of service in the region, make us more profitable, and help us fulfill our mission. We need a financial leader who can dramatically improve how we do business. We want to put our numbers to work changing the world.
