Biodiversity

Biodiversity both within and among a complement of species enhances ecosystem survivability by keeping alive genetic options and adaptation opportunities.

In this category you will find projects using both on-the ground habitat management and legal tools such as Safe Harbor Agreements that allow a property owner who enters into voluntary conservation activities to be issued an “enhancement of survival permit.”  This permit allows flexibility during the term of the agreement; species are expected to receive a “net conservation benefit” even if their numbers fluctuate. However, the property owner must maintain agreed-upon baseline conditions for listed species as of the end of the time-limited agreement.
