Timothy comes to the Sierra Business Council with a passion for working towards a sustainable and just Sierra economy, ecology, and community.  He brings a breadth of experience in the built environment coupled with strong networking and communication skills. Timothy believes in embodying, empowering, and sustaining positive change through education, innovation, and participation.

Professional Experience

Timothy serves as an Energy Associate within the Sierra Nevada Energy Watch Program out of the Sierra Business Council's Sonora office.  Timothy brings with him experience in the green building, alternative energy, and energy efficiency fields both in the private and nonprofit sectors.

While in college Timothy piloted PG&E's Green Campus program focusing on energy efficiency on campuses through energy audits, dorm room competitions, and lighting retrofits. He also served as a member of the executive committee for the California Student Sustainability Coalition, which helped to bring GHG audits and climate action plans to the UC and CSU systems.

Timothy started his work in the private sector as a Title-24 consultant in Marin County for EnergySoft LLC, running calculations and compliance modeling. He continued his work in green building as a consultant for KEMA as a LEED commissioning agent in Cotati, CA. Timothy recently moved back the Sierra to work with his father and earn his journeyman's certificate as an electrician. During his time in the Gold Country he has also worked for Alternative Power Solutions where he sold, designed, and installed over 17kw of photovoltaics and implemented energy efficiency measures.

Timothy continues to educate himself with current green building practices through involvement in the Foothill Collaborative on Sustainability and the Central Sierra Ecological Building Association.

Education

Timothy holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Sonoma State University where he participated in the Energy Management and Design program.

Personal Highlights

Spending summer and winter vacations in the Sierra since he was a child has given Timothy a thirst for Sierra recreation. He enjoys mountain biking and boarding, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, and trail running. He also enjoys experimenting in the garden, and has aspirations about rock climbing.
