Greg Jones
Vice President of Operations Professional Experience
Greg is Sierra Business Council’s Vice President of Operations. His responsibilities include implementation of programmatic priorities to ensure quality and timeliness as well as overseeing the financial and administrative functions of the organization.
For three years before joining SBC, Greg was instrumental in the early-stage development of two wind turbine manufacturing start-up companies in Nevada. His executive level responsibilities were multi-faceted and included the development of budgetary and financial projections, creation of business plans, administrative oversight, documentation of ongoing procedures and policies, coordination of strategic vision and setting organizational priorities for growth and long-term success.
Prior to this, Greg was the Executive Director of the Sierra Green Building Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainability and green building practices and techniques throughout the greater Sierra Nevada region. Greg was instrumental in managing outreach and communications, volunteer recruitment, organizational finances, and strategic process implementation.
In addition, Greg has a diverse 10 year for-profit and non-profit career background in manufacturing processes, procurement, financial and economic analysis, customer service, marketing and sales, and program management and development. Greg continually chooses to work with mission-driven organizations devoted to the integration of environmental, social and economic concerns.
Education
Greg holds a Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis in Environmental Business from the University of Nevada, Reno where he pioneered a joint masters program, combining the college of business with the college of environmental science.
Greg spent his undergraduate time in Chico, CA and holds a BS in Recreation and Parks Management with an emphasis in Resort and Lodging Management from California State University, Chico.
Personal Highlights
Greg lives in Truckee with his wife Sara and adorable identical twin girls, Cecelia and Francis. He has lived and played in the Truckee, Lake Tahoe, and Reno region for over 12 years and he counts himself fortunate to call this amazing place home. When he is not changing diapers and enjoying play time with his family, Greg’s hall pass usually involves skiing in the backcountry, climbing rocks, mountain biking, or getting lost in the wilderness.
