Christina Prestella’s position with Sierra Business Council as the Sierra Nevada Carbon Cooperative Project Manager puts her at the forefront of the current and upcoming global efforts in response to climate change issues. Currently, SBC is exploring the development of regional strategies aimed to promote adaptation and mitigation to the effects of climate change in the Sierra Nevada. Christina has been with SBC for a year and a half, where she completed her first year as an AmeriCorp volunteer. During her time with SBC, she has offered numerous workshops on measuring forest carbon for professionals and students and assisted in the development of two forest carbon inventories and offset projects, one of which has neared verification under Climate Action Reserve (CAR) protocols. She has attended and observed over 90% of CAR’s public workgroup meetings dedicated to the development of the revised Forest Project Protocols. Christina earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007. Personal HighlightsChristina was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, California. In her spare time, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, running, reading, and writing. |
